Professor Peter Woods
FCPA, FTIA, MAICD

Peter Woods is Chairman and Managing Director of national and overseas publishing companies R.I.C. Publications Pty Ltd and Prim-Ed Publishing Pty Ltd with offices in Australia, Japan, UK and Ireland, and sister investment company Corpserv Pty Ltd.(R.I.C.Group).

He is a Fellow of the Certified Practicing Accountants and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and he has 32 years experience in corporate and financial management areas. He has had extensive experience in the provision of management, financial and taxation advice to clients, including several public companies. Since 1986 he has also been involved in the mining industry, and is currently a Board Member and substantial Shareholder of Sun Resources NL, an oil and gas exploration company, and until recently a director and substantial shareholder of Basin Minerals Limited, which was subject of a successful takeover offer by Iluka Resources Limited completed in August 2002 for $130 million.

In 1998 Peter, with his partners, purchased a 160 acre property in Abbey Farm Road, Yallingup and established a 50 acre vineyard "Woodside Valley Estate". In August 2002 "Woodside Valley Estate" launched its wines "The Baudin Collection". At the launch Peter indicated that he, with help from Professor Marchant and others, would be setting up a foundation which aimed to:

  • Collect and preserve rare pieces of our history for the benefit of all Western Australians;
  • Promote the work of historians through grants for the purpose of identifying and preserving important pieces of our State's unique heritage; and
  • Work with premier local collectors to exhibit rare and significant pieces from some of Western Australia's best private collections, to complement the Foundation's own collections

October 2002 saw two of his companies - educational book publisher R.I.C. Publications Pty Ltd and boutique premium wine producer, Woodside Valley Estate Pty Ltd - become major sponsors of the WA State Library Custodians' successful bid for the "Freycinet Collection" of historic maps and drawings from Baudin's visit to WA in from 1801 - 1803.

His passion to help redress the balance by bringing more attention to Baudin's great scientific mission to Australia has also seen R.I.C. Group and Woodside Valley Estate support the research of the late Professor Leslie Marchant.
